WHAT IS KIRIROM NATIONAL PARK ?

In the past, the King “Sisovath Monivong” gave Kirirom means “Mountain of Joy” in 1930s, and it was known as Phnom Vorvong Sorvong. The Kirirom Mountain Park is onc well-known historical mountain in Camboida, located about 112 Km northwest of Phnom Penh Capital City and in Kompong Speu Province. The place had a different older name “Preah Suramarith-Kossomak”; it is an officially called in Cambodia and has been changed to “Kirirom National Park” a part of the “Southwest Clusters Project Areas” in 1993 under IUCN Catergory II (International Union for Conservation of Nature).
The Unique of Natural Beautiful scenery pine forest, astonishing waterfalls and a home to many endangered species of animal. There are popular picnic sports and wide of variety leisure activities on the Mountain.

THE PREVIOUS ROYAL PALACE FOR KING “SIHANOUK”

HIS Majesty King Norodom Sihanouk opened the visitors' center at the Preah Suramarit-Kossamak National Park in Kompong Speu-a case of a Royal homecoming. The center's site was once the King's residence, an area he named Kirirom Plateau more than 50 years ago.
In 1950 the Kirirom forest was designated a reserve by Royal decree. The King's residence was virtually destroyed by the Khmer Rouge in the 1970s, with only the chimney structure remaining.

CAMBODIA TRADITIONAL BUDDIST TEMPLES

are two Cambodia traditional Buddist Temples, where for a small donation, guests can buy some incense and make offerings or pray. They are in believing to pray for safety trips, healthy and prosperity when retuning homes.

 

PINE FORESTS

The beautiful scenery of Pine Forests that grow along the way up to the top with more than many different kind of tropical plants on the Mountian. This is a unique natural landscape always show-off to attract more tourists coming and loving to stay closely to the Nature.

 

ASTONISHING WATERFALLS

Kirirom National Park is a well-know place has more than sevaral natural waterfalls in raining season. The most beautiful one is Charmbok Village, where attraction include a 40m high waterfall, and most of tourists prefer to try an tradtional OX-Cart for transportation.

Wildlife

There are many types of larger wildlife in evidence on Kirirom, Asian Elephant, Deer, Wild Ox Gaur, Wild Ox Banteng, Leopard, Spotted Linsang, Pileated Gibbon and Tiger. Furthuermore, it is an ideal spot to glimpse some of the Kingdom's unique birdlife and birdwatchers even come from overseas to visit and stay closely to them.
